ABOUT THE ECNL

The ECNL (Elite Clubs National League) was founded in 2009 as a bold response to the existing youth soccer framework, driven by a vision to enhance the quality and experience of the sport for young players. Recognizing the need for a transformative approach, the ECNL emerged from grassroots initiatives led by dedicated youth soccer leaders across the nation, who were united in their commitment to challenge the status quo and elevate the game.

In just a few years, the ECNL ascended to national prominence, becoming the premier level for competition and player development in the United States. This rapid rise was not merely coincidental; it was underpinned by a collective dedication to improving the youth soccer landscape. Each initiative and program was carefully crafted to align with the evolving needs of member clubs, ensuring that the league remained responsive and relevant. The commitment to collaboration meant that the voice of each club was heard, leading to innovative solutions that addressed the diverse challenges faced in youth soccer.

The acronym "ECNL" has come to symbolize a new paradigm in youth soccer—one characterized by collaborative innovation, opportunity, respect, development, and excellence. The once-radical concept of empowering clubs to have a say in their future has yielded unprecedented results, particularly for female players. The ECNL has seen an exceptional increase in the number of girls progressing to collegiate, professional, and national teams, showcasing the league’s profound impact on player development and success.

In 2017, as the landscape of youth soccer continued to evolve, the decision was made to launch the ECNL Boys. This marked a significant milestone, setting the stage for a new era of growth and enhanced quality in youth soccer. Beginning with 57 of the top boys clubs in the country, the establishment of the Boys ECNL reiterated the league's unwavering commitment to improving the overall experience for players, coaches, and clubs. This initiative not only broadened access to elite competition but also fostered an environment where players could thrive and develop their skills to the fullest.

Today, the ECNL stands as the epitome of excellence in youth soccer for both boys and girls. Its ongoing mission is to "Raise the Game," reflecting a collective aspiration among clubs, players, coaches, and stakeholders to continually strive for improvement and innovation. The ECNL not only shapes the future of youth soccer but also serves as a beacon of progress, inspiring all involved to reach new heights in athletic development and competitive success.
