Athletic Checklist
  • Create Player Bio
  • Club Tournaments
  • Unofficial Visits?? Go look at a variety of campuses but you are NOT permitted to talk to anyone from the Athletic department until August 1st of Junior year
  • Set up and familiarize yourself with College Fit Finder
  • Emails with Player Bios
  • Letters/Videos
  • Coaches cannot return emails or phone calls until Junior year
  • Club Tournaments/ID Camps
  • Visit colleges -No Official/ Unofficial Visits Before August 1st of Junior Year
  • Coaches can send camp information, questionnaires, and recruiting materials
  • Spring – Possible scholarship offers for Girls (Boys & Girls timeline differs here)
  • Boys scholarship offers begin Junior year
  • Send SPECIFIC emails and video
  • Videos could spark interest, especially in schools who might not get the opportunity to watch you play
  • Unofficial visits if possible
  • Attend college ID camps
  • College Coaches can email, text, and call players
  • Coaches can start sending recruiting materials
  • Go to colleges and watch live college soccer games (Division I, II, III, JUCO)
  • Take Official and Unofficial visits, as needed
  • Don’t get complacent - Stay competitive and continue to develop
  • Prepare for college!

  • Study and do well in all of your classes
  • Adjust to high school and the environment
  • Students should always take a rigorous course load (AP/Honors)
  • Be more than a “soccer player/athlete”
  • Perform community service
  • Hold leadership positions (Student Government)
  • Attend conferences

  • Understand how your high school handles college applications (Do you have a college counselor/advisor?)
  • Scholarships/Grants/Student Loans
  • Complete College applications (Spend time preparing a well-written college essay!)
  • Fill out your FAFSA form and apply for Scholarships
  • ACT/SAT test (Fall possibly)
  • Recommendations from teachers AND coaches
  • Apply for scholarships!
  • Make sure Colege Fit Finder account is up to date
  • Early Decision or Early Action?
  • Do well in school: Don’t slack, scholarship money may depend on it
  • PARENTS: Make sure that you get your taxes done early so that you can apply for FAFSA!
