PSC will offer free after school soccer at Henderson Hopkins in East Baltimore. Fully funded by Pipeline SC, Pipeline focuses on the city that birthed the club.
In 2015, Pipeline Soccer Club launched the first phase of “Everyone Plays” by creating a scholarship to ensure that everyone who wants to play youth soccer can, regardless of ability to pay. In 2017 alone Pipeline awarded $77,000 in scholarship funds (2019 awarded $85,000), enabling new players access and opportunity to play at the highest level of the game.
This following fall, Pipeline launched the second phase of “Everyone Plays” by providing after school soccer at 7 schools city wide. The program is available at no cost to the school or families. This unique partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools, beginning at Henderson Hopkins, will give back the experience of youth soccer through professional coaching and fun for students in grades K through 8.
“Pipeline Soccer is from Baltimore and we are committed to Baltimore,” Club President Sean Rush said. “There is great talent in every neighborhood, but there isn’t great access to soccer. Santino Quaranta, Doug Pryor, and I are committed to expanding our work to provide access to high-quality coaching to youth across Baltimore. Our partnership with Henderson Hopkins is the next step in making that vision a reality.”
Henderson Hopkins Principal Peter Kannam said, “I grew up playing soccer and have enjoyed coaching my own boys. I know the power of sport to strengthen mind, body, and spirit and how it fosters teamwork to teach our students how to collaborate effectively. I’m thrilled that Pipeline Soccer Club is making this investment in the families of East Baltimore. We are grateful for their partnership.”
Pipeline Soccer Club was founded in 2011 by Sean Rush, Santino Quaranta, and others interested in forming a soccer club for youth based on professionalism and the highest standards of teaching the game. A core purpose of the club from the outset has been to serve all levels of players and to serve both girls and boys equally.
